Technical comparison

There are three technical criteria a modern website must fulfill:

• The site must validate: this means its code follows a specific standard. These are technical specifications by the W3 Consortium, and they are there to make sure your website works the same way on all devices and Web Browsers.
• The site must conform to WCAG 2 - a standard for accessibility that makes sure anybody will be able to use your site (for example with a Braille Reader). Simply put, it defines how information may be structured and presented. In Canada, the European Union, and the EEC, public websites must conform to WCAG 2 by law (we tested to Level AA, which is already law in the EU and EEC: in Ontario, Level A is required today, with Level AA required from 2021).
• Section 508: In the United States, public sites must conform to the Section 508 Act, by law. Section 508 is a similar standard to WCAG 2.

We compared FirstMagic with 15 other publishing platforms. Here´s the result:

Of all the platforms tested, only Drupal and FirstMagic fullfills all criteria.
